Dr. Narciso R. Adraneda Jr. was born on December 20, 1951, in Samal, Bataan. The youngest of five children, he entered the world one month after the passing of his father, Narciso R. Adraneda Sr. His early life was shaped by the remarkable strength and unwavering faith of his mother, Eugenia, who single-handedly raised her family with diligence, sacrifice, and deep trust in God. Through her steadfast prayers and perseverance, all five of her children were able to complete their education—a legacy that profoundly influenced Dr. Adraneda’s life and values.
As a young man, he developed a deep appreciation for friendship, simplicity, and the beauty of the outdoors. Together with lifelong friends, he spent countless hours exploring the forests, rivers, and rice fields of his hometown, experiences that nurtured resilience, camaraderie, and gratitude for life’s simple blessings.
Driven by a passion for service and excellence, Dr. Adraneda earned his pre-medical degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1973 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 1977. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where his interest in cosmetic surgery first took root.
His pursuit of mastery led him to train under renowned Plastics and cosmetic surgeons Dr. Gil C. Fernandez (PAPRAS president) and Dr. Corazon Jose (PSCS president), then President of the Philippine Society for Cosmetic Surgery (PSCS). He later served as Dra. Jose’s surgical assistant for nearly two decades, refining his skills while embracing the highest standards of patient care, professionalism, and surgical excellence.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Adraneda has combined technical expertise with visionary leadership. He served as President of the Philippine Society for Cosmetic Surgery from 2013 to 2014, during which he championed significant initiatives, including annual strategic planning and team-building programs, the creation of the PSCS Hymn and Newsletter, and the establishment of Departments of Cosmetic Surgery in selected hospitals. Since 2012, he has served as Chairman of the Department of Cosmetic Surgery at De Los Santos Medical Center, mentoring generations of surgeons and advancing the specialty in the Philippines.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Adraneda has remained deeply committed to his faith and family. An active member of Couples for Christ since 1991, he has dedicated himself to both medical and evangelization missions, exemplifying compassionate service to others. Together with his beloved wife, Conception T. Adraneda, he has raised three sons who, by God’s grace, have followed his footsteps and become physicians.
Today, Dr. Adraneda continues to practice general and cosmetic surgery alongside his sons, sharing not only his knowledge and experience but also his enduring commitment to excellence, humility, and service. His life’s journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of faith, perseverance, and a steadfast dedication to healing, inspiring future generations of physicians to lead with both skill and compassion.
